Default How to determine Verizon Wireless service availability

Determining Verizon Wireless service availability
Service availability is dependant upon device location.
Domestic services
  1. Verify the device is within the Verizon Wireless coverage area.
To verify the device is within the Verizon Wireless coverage area use the online Coverage Locator.
  2. Check the signal strength.
Signal strength is indicated by bars on the device / software display (see below). If signal strength is less than 2 bars try moving the device to a different location.
  3. Ensure that the signal is not limited due to indoor surroundings.
Low or no signal strength may be caused by indoor surroundings. Position the wireless devices in a manner that will minimize the amount of obstructions.
International services
  • Global (Voice & Data): Use the Global Phone Coverage search tool to determine service availability.
The indicators displayed on the device may vary from the following examples:
Device Signal Indicators
BroadbandAccess (EV-DO) Service is available.
NationalAccess (1X) Service is available.
Digital features and services are available.
Signal strength. This may vary depending on location, wireless equipment, weather, topography and other environmental considerations associated with radio technology.
No Service. The device is not receiving signal from the network.
When the roam indicator is flashing or the banner display reads Extended Network, home airtime rates still apply, but additional features and services may not be available.
When the roam indicator is solid or the banner display reads Roaming, roam rates apply and digital features and services are not available.
