After reading various guides i am able to get my phone tethered to laptop via USB cable or Bluetooth DUN, using this guide.
How to enable EVDO DUN on ANY EVDO capable phone in 10 easy steps!
first time i connected to the internet i noticed it connected as a data call. Not wanting to have to pay the 2.00 per MB verizon charges for data usage i looked int the subject further.
As i researched the subject i came across various guides/posts stating that if you use EV-DO then it is considered DATA usage(what i want to avoid).
So i researched how to disable EV-DO, and successfully did so using these guides:
http://forums.wirelessadvisor.com/ve...moto-w755.html
and
http://hacktherazr.com/guides/verizo...erizon-v3c-v3m
Researching the subject in various posts/guides some people state that EV-DO is considered DATA usage, BUT 1X only takes airtime minutes. So as i stated earlier I disabled EV-DO and connected to the internet via my teathered w755 again in 1x.
SO my question is....
when i am connected to the internet on a PC via tethering on the 1x network , is this considered DATA usage or minute usage. I could never seem to find a clear answer. Also, if it is indeed considered minute usage then i would assume that it is free after 7pm(?or9pm?)on weekdays and on weekends.
Also if connecting to the 1x network is still considered data useage, then i assume there is no need to disable EV-DO, Sans to save battery life.
I just signed up with verizon a month ago, so i am still new to all this stuff, but i am learning.
Can anyone give me a definitive answer on how this tethering loophole works now? I think all the information about PC tethering i read was obsolete. I assume now that regardless of what network you connect to (1X/EV-DO)it all counts all DATA usage.
Any further enlightenment on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
