"Directory Assistance" entry in Contacts
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this issue? Verizon Wireless, in their best overbearing and draconian style, has seen fit to hardcode Directory Assistance (411) into the Contacts list of the VX9100. This is problematic for the following reason: The VX9100 has a poorly implemented keyguard feature that makes it pretty darn easy to unlock the keypad accidentally. Last week this happened to me and somehow, my seatbelt called Directory Assistance. At $1.49 per call, this only has to happen once to be pretty damn frustrating. You can not delete this entry via phone menus. You can not block this call. It's become obvious to me that VZW has done this to enhance revenue through accidental calls...I mean who can't remember/doesn't know that 411 is DA? And who would use it when you can text your inquiry to Google. WTF? I can't even delete it with Bitpim. Can anyone help with this before I just give Verizon Wireless "the finger"? How can I not be in charge of what is or isn't in my Contacts list? I've been a loyal customer since 2003 and have 3 lines on my account. However, this is just one more thing in a long list of little annoying stuff that I can't tolerate from any business I send about $100/month. VZW has also screwed up my billing, contract periods, and the dishonest Verizon employee who sold me this phone also "crammed" my account with the $15/mo V-Cast ripoff pack. An iPhone is looking better and better all the time...
