Phone plan

My phone plan is up in November and I was thinking instead of upgrading my phone with the new every two. That I would just keep my current phone. If I do that, will my plan stay the same (or do I just not have a plan than) or do I just get a bill in the mail every month for minutes that I have used? I am just kinda confused on what will happen if I dont upgrade. And if i just get a monthly bill for what minutes I use, do I still have free verizon to verizon? And free nights and weekends? Or do I need to have a plan to get the free verizon to verizon?
I am just really confused....

If you don't upgrade, you won't notice anything different. You'll still pay the same monthly. If you wait few more months (2 years from last you signed a contract), you can cancel out of Verizon without any penalty or if you continue, you'll just be on month to month with no obligation.
