Default 1xEV-DO Rev 0 vs. Rev A

The main difference between EVDO Rev 0 and Rev A is the data rate. (There are other enhancements but the main one is the data rate)

The downlink theoretical maximum goes up from 2.4Mbps to 3.1Mbps.

The big difference is in the uplink, which goes from 153Kbps to 1.8Mbps.

Remember these are all theoretical maximums and typical usage is much slower.

ALL of the current Verizon phones only support Rev 0, even though Rev A technology is available. From what I heard, Verizon is only requiring Rev A on the data cards and not on the phone.

Don't expect any video conferencing over your EVDO phone until they have Rev A based phones that can transmit just as fast as it can receive.
