Smile duplex???

Why is it that some of the verizon phones I have and use cannot work in full duplex? Meaning both parties able to talk and hear at the same time? This is useful in an argument . I used a friends razar on cingular and it is full duplex. Is is the service?? or the type phones??? Any ideas?? Thx.

Unless it's a walkie talkie type of phone, all Verizon or Sprint or Cingular for that matter are full duplex phones.

Which Verizon phone you have doesn't work full duplex?

I have 2 a Motorola E815, and a LG 8300. I had the 6100 and that was even worse. I did a little experiment. I called my home using my verizon phone. had both parties say ahhhh at the same time.... only 1 got thru. the one that started first. I did the same thing using a RAZAR phone on cingular. Both parties heard each other simultaniously. Help! :>)

I've never heard that before. I'll try it on my Audiovox and let you know.

that is a phone issue. check to make sure the software is current. should be version ending in .04 if its a razr without the memory card or version 3 for the lg8300. if those are current have them swap it out

All of our phones are full duplex but some like the lg4650 due to its similarities to the lg4700 which works PTT sometimes have issues similar to what you are speaking of. My old razr and friends 8300 work fine, i think it is just equipment issues. but its definately not a known issue for either models

I know this is an old thread but I thought I would throw it out there anyway. My wife and I both have 8300's and they are not always full duplex. It seems to depend on where we are in the system coverage area meaning are we in a fringe area or am I in a building at work where signal strength is cut down. It is a pain in the neck to deal with when it happens. We have to deal with a simplex conversation. You have to say a sentence and wait before you talk again just in case the other person responds immediately. They are both ver. 3 SW. If we are both near a repeater this doesn't happen. Could this have something to do with a digital only phone?

It really shouldn't matter whether it's digital only or supports analog. Chances are you are always using digital anyway, unless you are in the remote area.
