Update?

I recently recieved an email from Verizon that said I was eligible for an update and I was just wondering what that entailed. At first I thought that it was just a way to get a new phone but when I called they said that it required a contract renewal. Does and upgrade mean that my contract is expiring and to keep verizon I have to resign?

I don't know what update means but whenever they give you a new phone at a discount, it requires another long term contract to help subsidize the phone. They will sell you a phone at full price if you don't want to sign a contract.
