Default Can I save money with no contract on the new Storm?

I have been a Verizon customer since March and am very interested in picking up one of these new Storms that comes out Friday. From what I've seen, the price will be $200 with a new contract and $500-$600 with no contract. I had an idea on how to save a bit of money off the no-contract price but wanted to run it by you guys.

What if I set up a new contract with the Storm and pay $200 for the phone. I would buy the cheapest plan ($40 a month) and then cancel it in 30 days ($175 early termination fee). Then, I would add the phone to my pre-existing plan. It seems as if the total cost for doing it this way would be about $400 rather than paying the $500-$600 for the new phone.

Anyone see any reason why this wouldn't work? Thanks for the advice!

Interesting idea.....

For Blackberry, I think they require you to sign up for much more expensive plan than just $40.

You can also sell back your other phone on eBay for a decent price.

Though that seems like a good idea, if you have the Storm for LESS than 180 days, you will get billed for the Storm in addition to your ETF
