Smile Bluetooth Ringtones?

Just a quick question and I'm not sure if anyone knows the answer, but any information that you have would be much appreciated.

I just bought the LG Dare 3 days ago, and I have received ring tones from my friend's phone via bluetooth. The files are saved in my phone under MY SOUNDS but I am not sure how to move them under MY RINGTONES. Can anyone help?

The only information that I have seen thus far is how to move the files from my phone to my computer or memory card, but not how to transfer the files from one folder to another on the phone itself.

Please help, any information will be helpful.

For most of the LG phones, there is a program called bitpim that gives you access to phone's internal memory and files. Last I heard, the support for LG Dare isn't there yet or is just about there. You might want to check into that. It's at www.bitpim.org

One warning though. It will most likely invalidate your warranty if Verizon found out you were messing with it so you are on your own if something goes wrong. Unless you are familiar with this type of software, I wouldn't mess with it.

you dont need bit pim that does not work for this phone at all.

The only way you can put your ringtones on this phone is from the my sounds area.

Directions follow:
--from my sounds pick the sound you want as a ringtone and touch the name of the sound.
--a menu opens with options the second option being Send; pick that
--thise will open a picture message; address this to yourself
--once you recieve the ringtone open it and it should automatically play your sound; in the bottom right hand corner of the screen there is a menu button; hit that and in the menu there will be an option to save as ring tone.

that is the only way to put free custome ringtones on this phone; trust me I actually have the phone and have worked very hard to get that far

--from my sounds pick the sound you want and send it to yourself as a pic message
--once you get the sound in your inbox open and there will be a menu button in the bottom right hand corner of the screen; in that menu there is a save as ringtone option.

When using BitPim it is always a good thing to save your phone files first. That being said, generally if you are "adding" a file and are careful in highlighting the correct folder you cannot damage anything. I use drag and drop into the appropriate folders for all my ringtones and wallpapers, approaching 400 of each. There is no way for Verizon to determine how those ringtones or wallpapers got placed into the folders. Should you inadvertently delete a needed file and have not saved the files prior to tinkering, put on your best poker face and go to the Verizon store and with a straight face claim it simply stopped working. BitPim leaves no trail.
