Lightbulb BitPim and the Dare

BitPim now has full Dare support. Download BitPim 1.0.6 Official from herehttp://bitpim.org

Install and run BitPim 1.0.6

Connect your Dare using the supplied data cable.

Use the find phone icon at the top if BitPim doesn't automatically find your Dare.

Once the Dare is connected you should see the listing of your phone at the bottom right of the screen.

In the left pane click the Filesystem icon.

In the center pane open the folder icon once the files are retrieved by BitPim.

Once the file folders are listed open the Brew folder.

Open the Mod folder.

The two folders you want are:

10888 for pics and 10889 for ringtones.

To add pictures, open on your PC the folder containing your pics (wallpapers) and use drag and drop to put them into folder 10888.

I have a number of sequentially numbered Dare folders in My Pictures. I use zedge.net and MobilePark.eu to find wallpapers in the correct size. MobilePark.eu has thousands of wallpapers in the correct size. The site is free but does require registration. You must "rate" the wallpaper before it allows you to download it to your PC. Zedge.net is another free site that has both ringtones and wallpapers. Register and start downloading to your PC.

Using BitPim you can drag and drop ringtones as simply as you can wallpapers. Connect your phone, find it, retreive the filesystem, open the Brew folder, open the Mod folder and open the 10889 folder. Within that folder open the ringtone folder. Open explorer to your saved ringtones and drag and drop to your hearts content.

Use BitPim or manually reboot your phone and your pics or tones or both are now resident on your Dare and you have succeeded in adding content to your Dare without adding one red cent to Verizons coffers.

Yes, you can send pics and tones via email to your phone but unless you have a generous message plan (I have a 5000 per month plan) that can get costly real quick.

If you have any problems PM me. I have used BitPim to add hundreds of wallpapers and ringtones to my Dare over the past two weeks and have yet to have a problem.
