Default MP3 Player - Newbie Question

My daughter has this phone, has loaded MP3s onto a micro-SD card, but does not know how to play the MP3s thru the phone. She has tried going to the "Music and Tones" menu, then to "My Music", but does not see the MP3s listed there. Additionally, it seems to make a "data" connection at that time to Verizon, so she gets charged with data usage from the phone (which is a minimum of $1.99 any time that happens it seems). She claims that she makes no other connections that would result in a data charge, and I believe she is telling the truth, so we are assuming they are incurred as she tries to get the phone to play music.

Can anyone outline the steps she should take to load music onto the micro-SD card (like for instance, does it need to be in a specific folder), and then how to access the music and play it without being charged data rates? She has no interest in getting "VCast" music from Verizon. She already has the music and just wants to listen to it using the phone. Seems like this should not be difficult.

If you are putting the music on sd card, it has to be in certain directory.

When you first plug in the blank sd card in the phone, it will create all appropriate directory for you. Then, when you connect the sd card to your computer, be sure to copy all your mp3 songs to directory that looks like music.

There should be a menu/button (see your user manual) to play mp3 songs. You shouldn't be connecting to Verizon or being charged data connection fee to use your phone as mp3 player.

I use my LG VX8600 as my music player whenever I go to the gym.

Thanks for the reply.

I'll double check the file structure that exists on the card for her, and make sure she has the MP3s in the correct folder, and move them if she doesn't. The manual does not specify what the folder structure should be, so apparently they assume you have purchased their "music kit" or whatever they call it, which is simply an overpriced micro SD card and USB cable as near as I can tell. We just got a card and reader and used that directly with the PC.

Anyway, I'll do some investigating and see if I can get this working. Thanks again.

Default Music folder....

Sorry to piggyback off of the other gentleman's question, but this seemed relevant. In trying to load music directly to the phone, in which directory should the music files be put? Thanks in advance...

When you say directly to the phone, do you mean the phone memory? You'll need USB cable and a program like bitpim to do that.

If you mean through the SD card, there should be a specific directory that gets created when you first plug in the card.

I apologize. Yes, directly to phone. Have latest update for BitPm and USB cable, and have already added a ringtone or two into the /brew/16452/lk/mr folder. This is the 3rd phone that I've had and by far the most confusing (as far as accronyms) to figure out. Maybe I'm thinking about them too hard???
