Default EnV2 won't connect via data cable

I purchased a micro usb cable from iTrimming on Ebay and downloaded the verizon music manager software and installed it for the VX9100. I am unable to connect to the phone via USB from my computer either via the verizon software or directly. I tried using the mass usb storage function as well and no communication the phone is not recognized. The Verizon software does not recognize this phone either. Any help here?

Should the battery show it is charging when connected via a data cable to your computer USB port or is that not an option on this phone? Because it is not showing charging when plugged in via USB port. I am thinking at this point this is just another incompatible cable sold on Ebay but others seem to get it to work so I am not sure.

Default re: EnV2 won't connect via data cable

I also bought a microusb cable from iTrimming and I have the exact same problem with my VX9100. I figured any microusb cable is like any other microusb cable so why not buy one for $3 on eBay instead of $30 from Verizon. I have done this successfully with prior phones using bitpim. (BTW- My experience is also that the phone should be charging thru the cable.)

I installed the Vcast software and driver without any apparent problems. When I plug in the phone, most of the time my computer does not recognize that it has been plugged in. Occasionally it will recognize something has been plugged in but thinks there are no drivers installed. I don't know what it should show up in the device list so I can't check it. In any case, there is no apparant charging going on and the cable gets alarmingly hot when it's plugged in so I assume there is a problem with the cable. Perhaps the cable from Verizon is not a standard microusb but a special one specifically for this phone. Sounds unlikely. I'm going to try to get it replaced and see if that works. Good luck!
