Default LG Philips Develops A4 Color 'E-Paper' Display

LG Philips LCD said Sunday that it has developed the world's first 14.1-inch color screen that is as flexible as paper. It's being touted as the next generation in display technology. Instead of glass the display uses electronic circuits formed on a thin metal panel. The so-called "e-paper" can be bended or even rolled up like paper.

A staffer holds the world's first 14.1-inch flexible color screen developed by LG.Philips LCD

The flexible display should enable portable electronic devices to be made much thinner. While several companies in Korea and abroad have been working in this field, LG said that this is the first flexible color display of A4-paper size.
The product can display up to 4096 colors and the screen does not disappear even when the power is off, the company said.
Market researcher Displaybank has predicted the market for flexible displays will grow to US$5.9 billion by 2010.
