VZW originally made it sound like it was free but no. It has its own monthly fees.

I would love to hear how it works out for users.

Default Went to Verizon...

So i went to my local verizon. the guy told me it was gonna take up to an hour. Then he went into the back with my phone, came back out a couple minutes later and said the firmware flash was giving him a Bad ROM error or something. He called another verizon store in the area and they told him that the firmware that they put out is being recalled because if done incorrectly or by someone untrained, it will wipe all info from the phone completely. They are going to put out a replacement fimrware within the week.

Sounds like VZW announced the feature a bit earlier than they were ready...

Default Firmware

I think they definately weren't ready yet. I just hope when they do get the new firmware right they add over the air updating like the LG Dare has. It's definately a pain to have to go down to a VZW store to have them update it for me. Plus the VZW stores around here (CT) don't have dedicated techs anymore, the salespeople are the ones doing updates and for some reason i don't really trust that.

Glad to know about the update. I was nervous about rushing out and getting the update. I think I will hold off for a long while before updating.

Default Not So Good.

Today i got the update...boy what a pain it is! while updating my phone the computer crashed so the update couldnt be done, so they sent me to another store to try to fix my cell..i spent honestly 5 hours in that store, it took 3 hours to try to put the update until they finally told me my phone didnt work anymore..so they were going to give me a refurbished one...i fought for my rights and told them i should get a new one since they were the ones who ruined my phone..after a long discussion i managed to get a new one..so they did the update and now i have version 09...

these are some of the new features:
the menu is more like the dare
you could drag and drop the shorcut menu icons (like the iphone)
visual voice mail, which is 2.99 a month i think
it brings a 15 day trial of city id, which is a program that tells you where people are calling you from. for example, if someone from an area code 213 is calling, it shows as los angeles, california.
the scrolling on the contacts list is slower...
these are some of the features that i figured out so far, if i find more i will post them...feel free to ask any questions!

PS: SAVE YOUR PICS ON YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE DOING THE UPDATE BECAUSE THEY WILL BE DELETED, ALSO DELETE YOUR MUSIC OR ELSE THE UPDATE WILL TAKE FOREVER..TRY TO ERASE YOUR INBOX AND OUTBOX OF TEXT FOR IT COULD BE FASTER...PLUS I JUST TRIED PUTTING A RINGTONE OF MY CELL AND IT SAYS YOU CANT BECAUSE ITS BLOCKED SO THATS NOT GOOD..

good luck guys, that update was a hassle for me
