LG VX8500 is Verizon’s Chocolate phone

The latest information and images show that the VX8500 is a black glossy slider, part of the Chocolate line. On the upper part of the phone, it has a large navigation key, similar to the one used in the iPOD music players. Similar to the European Chocolate, the VX8500’s keypad will be flat in surface for keeping it slim, and the black color of the housing will be combined with white and vivid red.
There is no official date for launching the phone as neither Verizon nor LG have announced it, but some rumors say it will start shipping on Oct 7 this year, as this is the date that the phone on the images displays.

LG’s ‘Chocolate’ phone coming exclusively to Verizon Wireless

BASKING RIDGE, N.J.—Verizon Wireless will sell LG Electronics Co. Ltd.’s “Chocolate” phone, a stylish, black device that slides open and plays digital music. A picture of and information on the phone were posted on Verizon’s Web site. The site lists the sliding-style phone as “coming soon” and does not provide a selling price. The carrier did not release technical details of the phone other than to boast: “Part MP3 player. Part phone. Totally sweet.”

The site lists the phone as an exclusive for Verizon.
LG introduced its Chocolate phone in its home market of South Korea in November, and shortly thereafter expanded sales of the device to Europe. So far, LG said it has sold more than 1 million of the devices.
Analysts are predicting that LG will post lower handset sales when it announces its quarterly financials next week; the company is likely betting on continued strong sales of the Chocolate to boost its earnings.

It's such a pretty phone. I don't really need the music function but the phone itself is pretty.

This phone has been available for about three weeks on vzw.com and came to the store locations last week. Word to the wise, bring a microfiber cloth or paper towel with you absolutely everywhere you go if you buy this phone. the glossy outside of this phone shows fingerprints like no other and if you don't have a headset your front display will be greased up after just one use. something to keep in mind

I tried to post real pictures of this phone taken with my 990 but the camera takes such detailed pictures that the file size is 530 kb and is thereby too big to be uploaded. If you guys want to see pictures of this or any other phone we have then private message me with what you want to see and your mobile number and i'll send you them. Also, if you want an example of the quality of pictures taken with a 990 i'll give you some examples. I took a few pics at the bucs vs jets game a few days ago that look like they came straight out of a magazine the quality is so good. I have unlimited vzw txt and pix so just let me know if you want to see anything in particular or at different angles.

If you buy the chocolate be aware that there was an issue with Tetris when attempting to play with your own music. As a result they have stopped the ability to download tetris on that model only until a fix can be made.
