Pros and Cons of LG-VX8600
Now that I've had my phone for almost a week, I'm ready to provide some Pros and Cons of this phone versus other phones I've owned and used in the past.
PRO
Very small and light. I use the leather holster but even with the holster, it feels lighters and smaller than my older Audiovox CDM-9900.
Bluetooth capability. It's something I didn't have before. It's nice to be able to use the wireless bluetooth headset without all those wires.
Music capability. The MP3 sounds pretty decent even on its non-stereo speaker and stereo headsets. Support for TransFlash (or microSD) memory certainly adds flexibility to play additonal songs.
Fast Download. This phone supports 1xEV-DO, which is capable of fast video download and VCast support.
Advanced Voice Recognition. I haven't really use it much but it allows me dial the numbers without having to look at the keypad and press them.
Animation Support. Instead of a static wallpaper, you can actually have the animation now.
CON
Smaller main screen. The resolution of VX-8600 is only 176 x 220, while my older CDM-9900 was 220 x 340.
Generic User Interface. All the User Interface all the new Verizon phones are identical. There are no differentiation.
No Analog Support. Not that I use it much but if I'm ever stranded in an wilderness with no digital coverage, I might wish I had the analog support.
Keypad. There are no indention on any of the keys so it's hard to press them without looking at the keys.
Small fonts on external LCD. When someone calls, the caller ID display on the external LCD is so small it's really difficult to read, especially if I'm driving.
Dirty Phone. The external material of the phone is so slick and shiny that it looks great when it's clean. But, gets dirty real easily with your finger prints.
If I think of more, I'll be sure to edit the post here.
