Default Service Menu and MP3 question

There's so much I don't know about my VX8700 and I'm hoping to find help here.

I am trying to play an MP3 on my phone.
I copied it to the card on my laptop, then put the card into the phone - it's been in before so it's formatted.

When I go to Get it Now>Music & Tones>My Music I cannot find the song. Yet, when I go to Settings & Tools>Memory>Card Memory>My Music - there is my file, right there.

So why can't I find and play it?

In reading the threads here, I find reference to a "service menu."
How do I access it?

Please pardon my ignorance but I'm trying to figure this out.

TIA

Service option is not your answer.

Check your manual for how to starting VCast music player to play your MP3 songs.

On my LG VX8600, it's the outside touch buttons (holding it for few seconds) turns the VCast Music Player.

Thanks - no such buttons on my phone.
To be clear - I put the mini card in a card reader, inserted it in my PC's usb port, and moved an mp3 into the "my music" directory of the mini card. I then took the mini card and put it in the phone.
Everything I read in the manual indicates I'm supposed to use a usb cable to transfer the file. Can that be what's gone awry?

Actually, if you use the Music Essential kit, it will install VCAST Music on your PC (which looks just like Windows Media Player). From there, you can sync your phone with your pc.

Once the songs are transferred, you need to start the VCast Music player from your phone.

OK. I looked up the VX8700 userguide and this is how you access your music.

Press the Center Navigation Key right to access GET IT NOW®. Press 1. Music and Tones.

Press 4. My Music to access your library.

You can browse by Genres, Artists, Albums or Songs. Select the song you would like to play. Highlight and press OK key to play your song.
