Default How do I disable the V-Cast soft key?

I do not subscribe to the service and seem to hit the v-cast soft key 50% of the time. This gives me the v-cast screen when I open the phone. Very annoying.

Thanks,

Gabbypig

I don't think there is a way to disable this on any phones. It's something Verizon "mandated" to all the phone manufacturers to put it in, regardless of whether you subscribe to VCast or not.

Default How do I disable the V-Cast soft key?

You can lock the buttons which will disable the soft key from launching VCAST. Opening the flip on the phone will unlock it.

Holding the phone with the flip closed, looking at the front of the phone:

1. Locate the upper button of the combined dual button
above the VCAST button on the left side of the phone.

2. Locate the lower button of the combined dual button
on the right side of the phone.

3. Depress simultaneously the upper button on the left and
the lower button on the right for about 3 seconds.

The external display should indicate that the keypad is locked thus disabling the red VCAST button.

Default Perhaps there's a way to mechanically disable the button?

I came across this post hoping someone had found a way to disable VCAST on this phone.

Unfortunately, the button protrudes from the phone, and disabling the buttons each time I close the phone is just as much a nuisance.

Has anyone gone into the phone and disabled the red VCAST button mechanically?

Default Thanks for the link!

I used to touch inside the phones, but that was more than a year ago. My software is likely out of date, and I'm not sure I really want to take that task on again.
