Caller ID Alert?

I just got a V750 to replace my LG VX5300. On my LG I could set it to announce the name or number of the caller rather than ringing. I see that the option exists on the V750 menu (Settings & Tools, Sound Settings, Voice Readout, Caller ID Alert), but it doesn't seem to work. Is there a trick to it or is there a software problem? I really miss this feature and would love to have it back.
