Default How to put custom ringtone on phone?

Can anyone specify a procedure to move a custom ringtone from a PC to the phone via SD card or email? I saw several procedures for both email attachments and using the SD card. The common part of the procedure that does not work is:

(1) Select the MP3 sound file in My Sounds
(2) On the options menu, Save as Ringtone

The Save as Ringone option is NOT in my menu

The email attachment technique had the same problem. Forums specified once you open the email and hear the song, specify Options, Save As Ringtone. This option does NOT appear on my W755 purchased June 29, 2008.

Please reply if you have a W755 (not some other phone) and you know how to load a user-supplied (not from a website) ringtone on your phone.

Thanks

This seems to be a common questions from people with phones that don't support those 2 options.... It appears Verizon/Moto has disabled those functions from W755.

I hope someone smart can figure out a way around this.

I hope someone smart figures it out too. When it is easier to get a fake drivers license or illegal drugs than it is to put a personalized ringtone on one's phone something is very wrong in this country. It turned the fun of getting a new phone very sour.

Well, the carriers want to make money by selling you the ringtones. If you can easily put yours for free, they wouldn't sell too many ringtones for a fee.

I still hope to hear of a procedure to do what I desire above, but in the mean time do you know of some ringtone provider authorized for Verizon w755 that can put a customer-supplied ringtone on a phone for a one-time a la carte fee? I’m looking to put about 3 custom MP3 ringtones on my phone for different callers. Although I’m frustrated with Verizon’s over-reaching control of my phone, I don’t intend to make a career out of this either -- especially if the one-time fee is reasonable. Do you have any suggestions?

It worked for me fine, I emailed an mp3 file to my phone, then on my phone selected "Save sound".

The best way to get ringtones on the w755 is by using MSU (Motorola Software update) in conjunction with P2Kcommander v4.9.

Quick steps.

-install MSU and run it....leave it running.

-Get a USB data cable and connect your phone to your PC. Wait while windows installs all the drivers. You can tell your ready for the next step when MSU recongizes your phone, a 14 digit code should appear as your MEID Number in MSU. Leave MSU RUNNING.

-install P2Kcommander v4.9 and run it.

-in either the right or left column in the drop down box select /a P2k Phone system. Then hit the Re-Read button.

-the ringtones folder is located at:
a/brew/mod/my_ringers

-copy your ringtones over by using the copy button.

that's it. You can now have Custom ringtones.

I have had this phone for less then a month. I have done this numerous times. I even put custom ringtones on my father's phone from 200 miles away using remote desktop connection....all he had to do was connect the phone to the PC. 10 minutes later he had all the blues and rocks ringtones he could handle.
