Verizon - The Gestapo of Cell phone Companies..........

3 cheers for the most short sighted cell phone company on the planet. as of right now, theres pretty much only 2 major players when it comes to cell phone service. AT&T / Cingular (mainly due to the esclusivity of the iPhone), and Verizon. Now before i bash even more, Verizon CANNOT be beat when it comes to service areas. Where i live and work, i barely ever loose service. The damn thing always works. Now they are pricey but its not obscene, so im willing to pay a little extra for exceptional service. BUT ............................

What the hell are you people thinking. first up, you passed on the iPhone, you were given the first offer (as far as i know) to have the iPhone, and you passed on it because Jobbs woulden't let you lock it down. how can you justify locking down the hardware that I purchased??? There isn't a computer company anywhere that would stop me from installing programs and files. What right do you have to stop me from putting ring tones and software that i own on MY OWN PHONE!!!???!!! do you people realize that due to lg, you finally have a legitimate iPhone killer. the dare hardware and interface is amazing, granted the touchscreen isn't up to par with the iPhone, but its absolutely nothing to sneeze at, its still a pretty damn good screen, the interface is clean, and overall its a damn damn damn good phone. But due to the face that you cant do anything that Verizon dosent want you to do, the iPhone will, in the long run, destroy everything you release on the market, simply due to the fact that it is open source. people want to customize everything they own. Make a version of brew that is open source, let people make and instal applications that they want to use. dont limit people to what your short sighted imagination limits your customer base to. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP NICKEL AND DIMING YOUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!! How can you charge me $10 a month for a gps service??? i completely understand if you want to charge me a one time $10 charge to get the software, but theres isnt a single gps service on the market, short of yours, that charges a monthly fee. For my work van i bought ms mappoint and a gps reciever for the laptop mounted in it. one time charge for the hardware and software, THATS IT!!!!! Why do you need to monthly charge people for the software you release, that shows a level of greed that, to me, is unfathomable. you guys seriously need to sit down and rethink the @55Raping that you give to your customers everytime you send out a bill.

To Summarize,

1 - stop with the nickel and dime billing tactics
2 - let people customize their hardware (almost) anyway they want.
3 - create an open source format so users can creat their own games and software (do something to fight the iPhone Apps!)
