Default Visual Voice Mail Quick Reference Guide

Set Up Visual Voice Mail
  1. Make sure your Verizon Wireless Voice Mail service is activated and set up your password. (Dial *86 if you need to set up these features.)
  2. Go to Messaging on your handset and select the Visual Voice Mail link.
  3. Launch Visual Voice Mail. (At first login, Visual Mail will ask for your password. The application will remember your password for future logins.)
  4. Follow the prompts to subscribe to Visual Voice Mail and accept the Terms and Conditions.
  5. Close Visual Voice Mail and wait 5 minutes before re-launching.
Using Visual Voice Mail
  1. Launch Visual Voice Mail.
  2. Visual Voice Mail will display the Inbox.
  3. Use the controls to scroll up and down to select a message.
  4. From the Inbox, you can Play the message audio file, Erase the selected message (with or without listening), or select other actions from the Options menu.
Visual Voice Mail Options

  • Callback to call the number from which the message was left. Callback is not available for international numbers or calls from Caller ID blocked phones.
  • Reply to a voice mail can only be sent to Verizon Wireless subscribers.
  • Forward a voice mail message to up to 10 Verizon Wireless subscribers. (Voice mail messages marked "Private" can not be forwarded.)
  • Add to Contacts when you receive a voice mail message from a number that is not in your contact list.
  • Archive a message to your My Sounds or memory card.
  • Compose Voice Mail to record a new message to send to up to 10 Verizon Wireless subscribers.
  • Check New Messages to update your Visual Voice Mail inbox when a new voice mail message is received.
  • Select Preferences to sort your inbox, clear the counter that indicates how many new voice mail messages are in your inbox, and check for updates to the Visual Voice Mail application.
Messages Marked for Expiration

Visual Voice Mail holds messages in the inbox until they are designated for deletion by the Voice Mail system. To retain messages, use the Archive option to save them to your phone or memory card. (You may also restart the expiration counter by exiting Visual Voice Mail and dialing *86. Listen to the message and press 9 to save it.)

Once messages have been deleted, the message is permanently erased. Deleted messages can not be recovered.

Receiving New Voice Mail Messages When the Phone’s Memory Is Full

If there is not enough space available on the device to download a new message, Visual Voice Mail removes enough older messages to make space for the new message. Messages that have been removed are still available through *86.

Customer Service Support

Dial *611 for assistance downloading or subscribing to Visual Voice Mail, or for assistance with error messages.

Cancelling Visual Voice Mail Service

Visual Voice Mail can not be cancelled through the application. To cancel Visual Voice Mail service, call Customer Service at *611, go to My Verizon or My Business Account. When you cancel, you will have choose Basic Voice Mail.
