Default Send Ringtones to Samsung a930

1. Fix up your ringtone to be less than 300kb
2. Convert it to .wav (e.g. xilisoft)
3. Open the .wav in the windows Sound Recorder
4. Go to File > Properties > Convert now
- PCM
- 22.050 kHz, 16 bit, Mono - 43 kb/sec
- hit ok, ok again and file > save
5. Convert the .wav back to .mp3 (same prog)
6. Rename filename.mp3 to filename.mid.mp3 (if you have set the preference where you don't see the common extensions, then rename it to filename.mid)
7. Open up the file in winamp
8. Right click on it and go to "View File Info"
9. Check ID3v2 tag and fill in some info (title, artist, album, year and genre should do) and hit update
10. Open up your e-mail client
11. Email the filename.mid.mp3 to your phone as an attachement (phonenumber@vzwpix.com)
12. When your phone receives it (wait time may vary) go to options > save sound
13. Delete the .mid and hit OK and it should save fine

The key here is the ID3v2 tag

I don't have a990 so I can't say for certain but it's worth a try.

I don't have e-mail or texting on my phone. At least I don't think so. Is there some way to make my own ringtone for the a930 without having texting? Like with my memory card and a USB cable?

If you have Samsung a930, you have e-mail capability.

But, the better way is to use memory card and USB cable. (The e-mailing method is for people who don't have the USB cable or the memory card)

For USB cable, I think you need to use program like Bitpm to access your phone and you can put any wallpapers and/or ringtones in there.

Ohh. Thanks! There was a delay in getting my phone to me, but I should get it in a week or so. In the mean time I have my choice between the e815 (Motorola) and some Samsung (my dad forgot the model number) that's about a year old.

Default does this really work on a930

Does this really work for the Samsung a930? Even though the MP3 capability is unavailable. Everything I tried always saves as a .qcp file, but I don't have the exact capabilities described above. I don't have a program to do all the suggested changes and just want to know if this works for sure before I buy a program.

Thanks
