Samdung Glyde Problems- Trade-In or Not?
Hi,
I have a Samsung Glyde approx. 6 mos. old. Yesterday and today I started to have problems with it. Here are the problems:
1. Sometimes when you slide the keyboard up, it won't switch from portrait to landscape mode.
2. To power it up, it takes 2 to 3 tries.
3. Sometimes when you dial on the touchscreen, it doesn't dial.
What should I do? Unlike my dad, I don't have TEC (Total Equipment Coverage), but the phone is still under warranty. Should I trade it or keep it, and what will they give me as my replacement device?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!
Oh, check out the W755 section for my post about my dad's phone.

Just take it into Verizon and see what they can do for you.
With the phone under 30 days, they replace your phone for free for any kind of defect. For phones older than 30days, I'm not sure what they will do and it will depend on the issue. They may replace your phone with another refurbished Glyde for either free or for small fee.

Well my friend said she had a Voyager and they didn't sell them anymore so they gave her an enV Touch. And the last time I went to Verizon they didn't have the Glyde on display. I also asked around local Verizon stands in the mall and I didn't see it. I asked if they had them, and they said they stopped carrying them because so many were returned.

If they don't have Glyde anymore, then take the enV Touch. It's been great.

UPDATE:
Just got off the phone with someone at Verizon Wireless. She said she definitely would agree that the phone is having issues, and she also said there's no problems with the software, so there is nothing she could do over the phone that would fix it (i.e. send updates to it). She said definitely take it into the store and let them touch it and play with it to see if there is any issues. She said she was sorry my phone was having issues.

BTW, admin_mvu, the lady also said I had no control over what I get, and no upgrades are currently do on our plan. So I have no choice.

What she said is probably true, from official Verizon standpoint. When you go to the store, whoever you deal with will have some flexibility into what they can give you (depends on what's on promotions, etc.)
I don't recommend this unless it's absolutely in dire situation......
If you call the Verizon and ask for the cancellation department. The cancellation department has little more room trying to keep the customer. My friend has done this few times and was able to get a brand new phone for like $50.

UPDATE #2:
Took my Glyde into the Verizon store today. The service man I dealt with was very friendly, and without taking a look at it, told me I definitely had a problem, and offered to replace it with a new or refurbished Glyde for FREE. I accepted his offer, and he sent my old one back to Samsung and/or Verizon without me having to pay anything. My new one has the new BI29 or whatever software, and I love my phone even more now. Thanks for the help!!!!!! Now, to take my dad's W755 in for a replacement......
BTW again, admin_mvu, you told me about the cancellation dpt. before, but I never felt like going through with it, since they might actually cancel my service and actually deactivate my old Device.

No problem. I've personally never used that option either. It's the last resort when you think you've really had with Verizon. Glad things worked out for you and you get to continue to use Glyde. Don't get too comfortable. There are other phones out there.
