Default I want my good link contacts to be the default!

If anyone could help me this I would be forever grateful. I just recently bought the samsung i760 and its a great phone. However, all of my contacts, calendar, etc. are stored on the good link server. So, all of my contacts through good link are on this phone and when I receive phone calls, the caller id works.

Not the same story when I receive a text message. For some reason when I get a text message it uses the phone contact list which I don't have anything stored in because all of my contacts are under the good link contact folder. Do I have to somehow transfer all of the contacts from my goodlink over the the contact list on the phone or can I make the good link contact folder the default for all of the applications on the phone. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

That's a good question. I hope someone here knows how to do it. BTW, how do you like this phone? I'm thinking this would be my next phone.

My Company has mostly Motorola Qs and some Treos and I have seen something similar to this before.

The exact issue was that if you had the same contact in your Phone's contacts AND in the Good Contacts... and you received a call from that number - the caller ID would properly display... but when you go back in the Phone's contacts you would see that contact has vanished.

After working with Motorola/Good Support I'm not entirely convinced that they know exactly why. Their recommendation was to install GMM 5.0 on the server/devices.

We are still running server v4.x but on my Q I have the latest GMM 5.x installed. I do not run into this issue anymore.

Apparently there are enhanced integration with phone and Good contacts when you upgrade your server to v5 as well.

One word of caution if using GMM 5.x on your device and server v4.x is this: There is a way to password lock the phone. The only way to reset it is to call the Good Admin and he can use the GoodLink console to reset the PIN. Since our server is still in v4, we cannot reset that - so it would require a master reset/re-install on the device to get it back in working order.

I'm considering getting an i760 to test it out in our Organization. How do you find it as a business device?

Hope this helps,
Steve

Default

i installed the threaded SMS app and now my called ID seems to pull from the GL contacts list.

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...-sms-i760.html

not to mention, i can now address a txt message from the GL contacts list.

my problem is how to get the GL contacts list to be the default contacts list. it stil seems to want to default to the native contact list.

anyone have any suggestions?

I am doing exactly this now. so far this device is great.

my biggest problem is trying to get used to a slide out KB vs. havnig one like the treo series (which i've been using for years both palm and WM)
