I now have 7 ringtones of songs I actually like. Even if I had wanted to pay for ringtones, I couldn't find a single thing on the Verizon site that was worth listening to every time I got a call.
So, how exactly is this different? The ringtone was sent from another phone as a message instead of as an e-mail from a computer?

Please do tell. We are all interested in this new way.

That's the only thing I can think of that makes the difference.

It is still inside the Verizon network, so they aren't blocking the soundfile.

We tried using several different email accounts to send, and tried smaller soundfiles in case we were hitting a size barrier. Pictures made it through fine, I emailed my wallpapers to myself. but every soundfile was blocked.

Since the Q is windows based, it's harder for them to lock it down, because you can just edit the registry to re-open anything they lock, so he could just sync the files from the PC to the Q, then send them to me as a message.

Sort of rambling, hope it makes sense, but that's how we managed it. Unfortunately it's not much help for anyone who doesn't know someone with a PDA phone. (although the same concept might work if someone were to try to send a message with the soundfile from one of the older phones that is not locked down.)

Your sound is not going to turn into ringtones. They are different size and most importantly, are in a different location.

I had to add one step to make it work. The file would not play when I opened the message on my KRZR, so I forwarded it to myself as a sound and it worked. Thanks for the help. The support guys at Verizon would not/could not help me on this issue.
