Default Using broadband capable phones overseas

Does anyone know if it is possible to use my broadband capable phone (802.11g) in another country where there is WiFi? I'm *NOT* talking about using the cellular aspects of the telephone. I'm referring to using my phone for e-mail/web only at a WiFi hotspot.

I think you should be. WiFi is a standard that's used all around the world, unlike different cellular technology.

Well I'll take it with me and try. Verizon CS said I would not be able to use e-mail via the 802.11g, but she didn't really sound like she understood what I was asking. As far as I can tell, it's just my device's 802.11g stuff connecting with another. I don't see how that would be BLOCKED or restricted by Verizon. We'll see.

I'm back and happy to report that it works fine. E-mail, browsing, no problem when in a wi-fi area.
