Got it working on my LG VX8600. The connection was so fast I didn't even notice it. And the web browsing feels like broadband. I'll be using this feature very often now.

Default Difficulty assessing correct COM Port on Samsung FlipShot

Hello and thanks for the great instructions. I have just upgraded from the E815 and am trying to figure out how to add DUN to my new phone, which is the Samsung FlipShot SCH-U900. If I can't figure this out then I will probably end up returning this otherwise great phone and going back to my E815. The problem that I am having is that I cannot determine the correct bluetooth COM Port. I am able to pair the phone to my computer and their is a good link, because I can access certain functions on the phone through my computer, but I neither bitpim nor QPST can determine what bluetooth port to use for this phone. Anybody have any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated!

I haven't tried the bluetooth connection yet. (Gotta get my laptop fixed to get the BT function)

Have you tried going to the Device Manager to see if you can your Samsung Phone as a Modem? If you click property, does it show you which COM port it's configured to?

Thanks for the suggestion. I just checked in device manager and the bluetooth modem is assigned to COM 6 on my computer. However, QPST Config does not recognize the phone when adding COM 6. The phone and computer are definitely paired. Thanks again for the help.

I finally got my Bluetooth connection to work. You have to go through the Bluetooth manager to get the phone discovered as a Dial Up Networking. Once it connects, your phone becomes available in as Modem.

The only problem I'm having is the connection between the phone and laptop isn't quite stable so had to redial a few times. Problem I didn't have when I was using the USB cable.

Question I got all the way to step 8 then it asked for service code

The instructions for enabling EVDO DUN were excellent (thanks) until I got to stop 8. A window popped up asking for a six digit code. I used the code from the previous QPST Config window because the number happened to be six digits. But an error popped up saying it was the wrong number and I could not go further. I was wondering if anyone could help me with this? Thanks! Carol

Hate to bump up an entire thread for this question, but I don't think it deserves a post of it's own.
If I do this, and have the VCast VPak, would it still use minutes, or would that fall under the "unlimited" use of the VCast VPak?

Reason I ask is two fold...
I currently have the Moto Razr. I have EVDO in my area. However, I've always been told that on EVDO, unless you're on a specific data plan, you'll be charged minutes and/or per MB used. On 1xRTT, with VCast VPak, you are charged neither minutes or per MB.
I "hacked" my Razr to only ever connect at 1xRTT. I do have the VCast VPak on my plan.
I was curious if I could connect at EVDO without concern for using minutes or being charger per MB?
Also, will the same apply true when I upgrade to a Voyager next week?

Thanks!

It does use minutes but you don't have to sign up for a separate data service.

So... if I use it after 2101 hours, it should be "free", but otherwise just use airtime?
Cool!
