Do you have to have a Qualcomm phone in order to use this workaround?

Is it still active? I have an Ozone on Page Plus and am considering trying it...but it looks like I need the Qualcomm tool...

You are not going to find any phones on Verizon that doesn't have the Qualcomm chip in it. There were few phones in the past that didn't but not for a very long time now.

Thanks. What's your take on trying this if a) I'm a newbie, but not an idiot, willing to learn but not f up my phone, and b) this info is a few years old, pre-smartphones, old qualcomm tool build, etc...is it still fresh....

People have still been reporting that it works, but like many others have reported, it doesn't use your voice minutes anymore and you'll get charged for the data unless you are on unlimited plan.
